Hello to everyone. I apologise in advance if this is too much of a “downer” but I’m fed-up, need to speak & this is the only site I use.

My good friend & neighbour of 13 years - June - passed away last night, aged 79. I’ve never heard a bad word said about her by anyone & if she had a bad word for anyone, no bad word would pass her lips. She was an “old-fashioned” lady.

She was stalwart in our community – a member of the church; sports club secretary; lift-giver; charity-donator, friend to everyone & much more - had knitting been an Olympic sport, she’d have won the gold for Britain every time!

I’ve just realised - I often had to reset her TV & video recorder & the idea of using a computer really frightened her, so this small memorial on the “Web” (!!) will, I hope, make her laugh.

This was never going to be a comprehensive obituary, but I hope it’s enough to convey how much June will be missed by her family & friends.

I’m off to help rehouse her budgie right now, so will not be able to reply for a while, but thank you for the chance to be able to post this & for your time & attention.

Thank you all for your kind words. I'm not going to mark a "Best Answer", simply because it doesn't feel right to do so.

I'm fielding phone calls, so can't reply as promptly as I'd like to...
Sorry to hear your bad news, June was lucky to have you as a neighbour, she seems to have led an active and useful life. RIP June.
Oh your Maj, my heart goes out to you, she sounds truly wonderful and you will of miss her dreadfully.

Trapped in the glorious years
within the memory of belief, lost of all grief.
Take the reasons,
which once seemed so clear,
but never mind, you have nothing to fear.
For you my friend will be, forever young,
Forever in the heart of memories.

Lost in the glory of all time,
the wisdom was there within that smile,
You see you could have told us,
there within lies the mystery.

So shed a smile, and grin a tear,
For you my friend, will be,
Forever young, Forever young.
Forever in the heart of memory,
We see not through or misery.
Forever young, forever young.
There's a new angel tonight
