I was wondering if people could answer this question on the recent series of adverts for Cadburys Dairy Milk. The series of adverts include, gorilla drumming, cars racing and dancing eyebrows.

Do you like the new style of adverts?
Why?
Do the adverts make you want to buy the product, despite having no relation to the product?

Thankyou!

No, like yourself Diceman, I fail to see what a gorilla playing drums, kids making silly eyebrow movements etc have to do with eating chocolate! I like the more laid back ad's like the flake one used to be and though its not Cadbury, the Galaxy ad. The daft ad's dont put me off buying Cadbury choc all the same.
When adverts are like this I always forget what the product is as I spend so long trying to analyse why they thought it would increase their sales
Dice enjoy the adverts for this product, but it doesnt make me want to rush out and buy bucket loads of cadbury choc bars!!
It is not 'just' about increasing sales. It is also about maintaining long term 'brand awareness'.

To a certain extent it is irrelevant whether you 'like' the ads or not... they have hit a nerve and become a talking point with the viewing public. Job done.
I don't need to watch an advert to buy chocolate...........

I love the eyebrows ad though - I have the ringtone on my mobile.
I dont really get the "this advert is so genius" remarks that people make about the ads, especially the gorilla one. they have made cadburys less cosy and more abstract

people still talk about the finger of fudge advert, it probably cost a fraction to make as well
I hate the dancing eyebrows ad. It's really freaky.
I enjoyed the Gorilla ad(s) (I think there are two versions).

I hate the other two (racing trucks and eyebrows), the reason? I just find them boring to be honest.

I hate Cadbury's chocolate with a passion, though obviously I know there are plenty of people who like it.
My favourite chocolate is Green and Black's, which ironically, is now owned by Cadbury's!
I like Cadbury's but these ads are a bit disconcerting and I think they have alienated a lot of people from the brand.

Having said that, they stick in your conciousness, and maybe that's what Cad's where trying to achieve?

It seems more and more people are using abstract ideas to sell products. Is there a reason why this is becoming a popular advertising technique?
But the whole idea of the advert (regardless of whether you like it or not) is to make you remember that advert, and thus associate it with Cadbury's
But surely, an advert can be both remembered AND liked?

I would have thought the more subversive adverts are riskier to the popularity of the product?

Couldn't it all go badly wrong for people like Cadbury's?
