Hi,
I have managed to jam the shed padlock by breaking the key inside the lock?
I'm not sure what to do so am looking for advice as to how we can break the padlock other than calling out a locksmith...
All advice greatly welcomed!
Thanks

Could you use a metal cutting saw to cut through the circular linkage? A new lock would be far cheaper than a locksmith.
If you can wait, i can post a link up for you to solve this with a pair of scissors and a can of coke. Please don't think i am joking although it does sound like it. Please be patient

Well I'm waiting with baited breath topigogo, I is agog!
Here it is, i think this is pretty good. For all you doubters out there:

A hammer and a chisel or a flat head screwdriver will do the job with less mess.

Topi, I can see you have a lot of free time ;-)
Borrow a set of bolt cutters - they will cut the bolt on the padlock like a knife through butter or alternatively use an angle grinder with a metal cutting disc in it.
OR get a can of pop.
I look after properties full of problem and special need tenants i had to look for this clever trick.
Isn't ANYONE impressed with Topo's link?

I was! Now I can't wait to try it out......or perhaps Mel_C can tell me if it worked?
Ah chicklin, common sense is wasted on some people, do they expect mel c to want to muck about with hammers and angle grinders?
lol, yes chicklin, I was impressed too, but I have to admit I watched it wincing wondering at which point he was going to slice one or all of his fingers off with either that blade or the can edges.

Still- excellent find Topigogo!
haha! that's why I said he must have lots of free time. ;-)
Does it make a difference that the film showed a self closing lock. I thought padlocks need to be positively closed with the key rather than pushed home?
I would suggest sending it to a locksmith for a key removal and recut, you can get key extraction kits from places such as http://www.f
astkeys.co.uk
Bolt cutters or a hack saw.
