Please can anyone help me with the problem I am having with my memory foam mattress? I am finding it so VERY warm. I wake up every night with the heat. This didn't happen before with my old sprung mattress. It was quite expensive so I can't just discard it but I can't go on with the disturbed nights. Any solutions please?

How long have you had the mattress? This was a problem some time ago but it has been resolved.

The newer type beds should not make you sweat - unless it is a poorer quality, cheaper mattress.

If it is new contact the shop and tell them you are not happy with the bed - it is not fit for the purpose.

If you've had it some time, turn the bedroom heating off/down, open the windows, use pure cotton sheets and turn the bedding down during the day.

Good luck!

ETHEL. Thank you. I have had the mattress now since November last year. It is a 'Body Impressions night therapy' mattress and cost 600. I have been in touch with Ventura Corporation Ltd. They say it could be a problem and suggested I put a topper or a duvet on top of the mattress and hope that that works. I have the door and windows open day and night and have the heating in the bedroom turned off. Just don't know what to do now.
This obviously isn't good enough. To suggest you sleep on top of a duvet is a nonsense - it will ruck up during the night and be most uncomfortable.

In fact to tell you to buy a topper suggests they know the mattress is not suitable for sleeping on.

Write to them again, stating you have given the mattress a fair trial but it is unsatisfactory to the point of being unusable.

Ask them for a refund - a full refund. Do not be fobbed off with partial refunds, replacements or credit notes.

If you get no satisfaction you can issue a summons in the Small Claims Court for very little money. If you are reluctant to do this yourself go to the Citizens Advice Bureau.

You have spent a lot of money on a mattress and don't let them fob you off.

We have a memory foam matress and do not suffer problems like this, so I would complain too!

send a copy of this sheet (print screen and argue that the heat wakes you therefore it is inherently faulty for the purpose of sleeping.

Sence4all. Which make of mattress have you got? Thank you for web page I have printed it off. As I have been intouch with manufactures who do you think I should should send the page too?

I once had occasion to sleep on this type of mattress for a couple of weeks in the middle of summer and it retained so much heat that I nearly cooked to death so I sympathise. I suggest you go back to the shop and say you want a refund. A product has to be serviceable and it is clearly not fulfilling the needs you expected. If necessary, contact the Trading Standards Department of your local council for some specific advice, or the Citizens Advice Bureau..

In the meantime I can only suggest as a short-term remedy that you fill a hot water bottle every night with ice-cold chilled water from a bottle you have stored in your fridge for the purpose. Alternatively get a couple of freezer gel packs. freeze them & wrap them in a light cloth and put them in a waterproof bag and take them to bed with you.

Don't allow the manufacturer to fob you off though. You are obviously not happy with the product and things will only get worse for you as the warmer weather arrives.
