Just sorting out my outfit for a wedding later this month and decided on a nice clutch bag which will go well with everything else. And then I realised that not only will I need car keys, house keys, phone (I am chief liaison for a number of things - including Mr BM who is the chauffer), glasses (poss 2x - sunglasses and reading glasses), minimum make up, cash and cards, spare hair grips, spare stockings, handkerchief; I shall also have Mr BM's wallet, glasses x 2 (reading and sunglasses), car keys, phone once we are reunited and probably other stuff. Apparently, this stuff ruins the line of his suit.

The nice clutch bag has been consigned to the cupboard and a new bag is winging its way to me.

Do those of you who carry bags encounter the same problem and instead double as a packhorse for the significant other in your life? Do those of you who don't carry bags routinely give your stuff to your other half and then say things like "how much stuff have you got in there"?

Or is it just me blessed with such a situation?!

How about renting a smallish U-Haul and parking it close to the wedding and reception site?

Buy your man a man bag.

Not a chance could I get him to carry one. He is more likely to strip naked, paint himself blue, and run up the High Street shouting "I'm a smurf".
I had no choice, my wife refuses to be my donkey. Can't say I blame her
I have to admit that I do not carry a handbag, but Mrs. bb does. If I am not wearing a jacket (the pockets are handy), I do ask Mrs. bb to carry the car key in her bag. The car key is a bit of a cumbersome thing, and it does feel cumbersome in my trouser pocket. If it is in my trouser pocket, I always think that the pressure of this and that might open and close the car doors, so Mrs. bb's handbag is quite useful.
I'd always assumed that the most important item in Barmaid's handbag was her corkscrew ;-)

I'm driving that day once Mr BM has completed his chauffeuring duties.
Can't you leave non-essentials in the car, so they are there if you need them but you are not a beast of burden?
Quite simply I make sure that the stockings are thick enough that a fireman couldn’t climb them!! Make up etc gets left behind in the car except for lippie and powder. Phone gets taken out of its case so it will fit. Anything extra goes in his pockets.
I make sure he has clean hankies so I can steal them if needed

Sorry, my last answer was to Buenchico.

Barry - he once pretended to trade me for a donkey in Tenerife.

BB - he finds my bag extremely useful! I've got stuff of my own too, I just fancied a little clutch bag, which are actually fairly pointless.
i'm a geezer you carry it in your skys or you don't carry it!
I don't have another half but I do have a demanding 12 year old who's noise cancelling headphones and phone I have to carry around with me.

The only thing missing from my bag is the kitchen sink.
Hey, I got a BA! Remember years ago when fanny-packs were popular? I used to wear one when I was out and about downtown as it could hold my keys, pack of cigs, lighter, and a few other small items.
Who carries a wallet any more? I carry a card holder that has a clip on the side for the rare occasion I have notes.
Even then it’s rare I carry that, I use my phone to pay for everything.
I had a few bumbags as we called them, Sanmac ;o)
I have all the tech but I still user bangers and mash mainly because I hate having a 30 page bank statement!
When going on holiday I use a canvas chest pack.
The canvas means it won’t get hot and sweaty and having it on my chest means that everything (tablet, phone, iPod, passport/cards) is under my nose, no chance for pickpockets etc and both hands remain free for carrying luggage.

I think it may be a cash bar later. So cash too.

My mini suitcase will be fine. Plus I suppose it is an opportunity to buy a nice new bag. And you can never have enough bags. Or shoes.

Fatticus - I'm not sure that is going to work at a wedding!
Do people really still use handkerchiefs? Yuk!
