Coming back from shops. Car parked on left hand side. Car in front pulled up behind and waited till oncoming traffic stopped.

Plenty of room for three cars and if the halfwit in front of me kept towards the middle there was enough room to get past the parked car.

The problem with pulling up behind the parked car is that he would have to his nose over the middle of the road to get past.

Part of a driving test should be to drive through gaps you know your car will get through.

Do you feel better now?

Absolutely.

I must be getting grumpy like my dad. As soon as I get up I look in the mirror and smile, just to get it over with.
But aren't you supposed to pass parked cars with a reasonable clearance? How long were you held up - 30 seconds? Disaster!
Question Author
Yes, but you could have driven a bus through.
It's a jungle out there.
My car moan is drivers who have no idea how to drive in the snow. Get stuck? Well, just accelerate as hard as you can!!! No numpties! Stop, put car into second gear and pull away gently. Give your tyres a chance to grip for goodness sake.

Indicators for me. Either "they" don't bother because, well isn't it obvious they were going to turn, or "they" indicate when they start to turn - what's the point?
I'm usually OK with whatever idiots are doing in front of me - it's tailgaters that wind me up ( & I don't drive slowly!).
Drive through gaps you know your car will get though? Wing mirrors seem to grow by the day on some cars. :0)
one solution to tailgaters is a trick I saw in the film The Eiger Sanction: either turn your lights on, or if already on, turn your rear fog light(s) on. The driver behind should instinctively react to the lights and brake.
The wing mirrors on some cars do not fold in,making some drivers reluctant to go for a narrow gap in case their mirrors get damaged, cultivate a little patience.
Are cars not all the same width?
Two things you need to be a good driver. Anticipation and patients.
wolf63,
are you actually serious?
is that as an ambulance driver, teacake??
Wing mirrors?
What sort of cars are some ABers driving...
//the halfwit in front of me kept towards the middle there was enough room to get past the parked car.//

I would wager that the motor was an S.U.V. They buy them and are petrified of their nearside because they can't judge the width. They all need 6ft on their inside and steer around parked cars like they are in the Queen Mary. Don't get me going on how they park either. A dopey bird in an SUV is an accident waiting to happen. They all boast ... I have never had an accident, but I see loads.

Aww stop it. The laughter is hurting. The way they drive them they are liable to serve up the patients alright.
NESCIO, a few year ago I put my fog lights on when a driver was too close too me. I did it when he was looking toward his passenger and it worked a treat.
