There's been a lot of people who've volunteered their services and there's been new centres opened , surely this would speed up the vaccine programme and stay ahead of the virus?
I listened with interest to a doctor saying if people were travelling at middle of the night hours , they're more likely to have a car accident through being tired etc, if it was offered to me at 03-01am ( which is what they're doing to the minute) I'd make sure I'd had a couple of hours prior to going,

We just need to be patient now, they are speeding up the rate of vaccination but in the middle of January its pretty icy out there after dark. The NHS dont have the capacity to deal with a whole load of slips, falls and car crashed. Stay at home, wait our turn, go in the daylight.

How would an 83 old woman get there?
Question Author
Taxi?
Ok for an example mil local vaccine centres are 30 miles away a taxi at that time would be very expensive
Is it not more likely to be offered as an option rather than take it or leave it?

Then I guess she'll have to wait till one opens in the 10 mile radius discussed in that case, or get someone to take her

It's an option I'd happily take TCL
Ok
i'm a virtual recluse, i'm happy to just wait until my local gp round the corner can do it . . .
I read this morning that BJ had approved a trial for a 24/7 centre to go ahead

That's a fair comment ael
PMQs at the moment on radio 5 they are talking about it there
Available staff, amount of vaccine available, amount of likely take up v cost. I think it might work in big cities with good infrastructure and large numbers of night workers. So London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, and maybe Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle and Bristol.
I suggested they should work Saturday & Sunday at least.

I thought they were already doing that Sharon?
our local health centre seems to be open of a weekend, though not sure whether this is for the vaccine, people were queuing on sunday, but they were all different age groups?
24 It might work when it comes to younger people being vaccinated, but certainly the majority over 70s would not want nightime vaccinations and wouldn't turn up. The lack of night-time public transport would also be a major problem. Our medical practice was one of the first to get vaccines delivered and is only 4 miles away. I've been told by GP that all things being equal OH and I will be jabbed mid February, which is good news. We're in no hurry.
24!?

I think TCL was right in saying it could be an option for those that would take it apc , the downside of course would be some not turning up for theirs
I agree with arc. Old people wouldn’t be happy going out for a vaccination in the night. I am my own, and I would not want to out alone in the dark and then come home on my own
Sorry. Apc
