I would like to reccomend this film which we watched yesterday on Prime TV. Did not know anything about it but now know it is based on true events and the three main characters are not actors but played by the real people that took part in what happened. Clint Eastwood heard their story and decided to make a film and asked them to play themselves. Film builds up from when they met up at junior school in California, went their separate ways but stayed friends and then shows what happened when they got together to go on a European trip together. They did Rome, Berlin and Amsterdam and then decided to take the 15-17 train to Paris. Just remember that everything is true and really happened to them and the final scene with President Hollande is actual footage. Real heartwarming film of bravery.

Was this about the disarming of a Islam terrorist wielding a knife on a train. One a soldier on leave. They got a croix de guerre or some other bravery award ?
SPOILER ALERT

Full plot here, sounds an amazing watch.

Yes. All three got the Legion D'Honneur which is France's highest award plus some other passengers were awarded it later on. There are 4 or 5 others in the film who played themselves as well and it is truly remarkable. When they returned home they were all given awards by Barack Obama as well. This all happened in August 2015 and the terrorist is still on remand in France and has not been sentenced yet. Hard to believe that not one person died.

Had never heard of the "actors" and only watched it on the basis of Clint Eastwood directing it as he usually make good films. Did not realise until the end that is was based on real events.
Thanks for that. It’s on my to watch list now. I remember it actually happening. Very scary for the passengers.
Just watched it. I thought it was an excellent film. Well done again Clint for directing this film. I am glad to see that the U.S. decorated their heroes as well as the French. It very much reminded me of my childhood with my best mate. We are both now in our 70s and when I lend him my copy of this film on DVD he will also remember our childhood together which mirrored these young kids.
Sounds an interesting watch BD. I'll look it up, thanks.

Retro did you know that the man who was shot and spent most of his time on the floor was played by the actual victim and the wife by his real wife? To go through that ordeal must have been dreadful but to recreate it must have been really weird. Clint got as many people to play themselves as he could including the rail guard and the businesman. Eleanor I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
