Truly a wonderful joke - Monkhouse at his best (and very brave in a way as some of his jokes did actually fall flat).

Some of the earliest and best comedy I encountered was the radio shows of the Fifties for which, as a popular script-writing combination, Bob Monkhouse and Denis Goodwin provided much of the material. Good old days.
