But, come 22.00 one of the twins screams blue murder. Clean nappy, full tummy, winded.

Any idea, why? It’s 35 years since I went through this.

They sleep together but the little one just won’t settle. Thank goodness the bigger one just goes to sleep.

Daddy sits up with littly trying to get her to sleep.

I’m in the spare bedroom going to sleep in my good ear. ;0)
Colic? Still hungry ? Windy ?
Might just be something as simple as having an itch.

After thirty-five years you don't need/want/deserve surrogated parenthood..

It's their brats, let them take care of them theirselves.
Wish I was your grandchild ve
They share a bedroom .. no parents in the room? If that's the case it might just be the youngest doesn't feel happy without the 'feeling' of security they get in daylight hours with an adult around. How old are they? It's a shame the older one has to endure that. The younger child may just need an adult with them for a little longer, till they reach an age where they feel more secure about the dark.
Normal behaviour. Next week will be the other way round. My grandkids used to have a good scream between 7 and 11 every night. Some babies like to be swaddled and some do not. Have you tried a dummy? Also crying, pick up cuddle for 5minutes, put down. If crying wait a little longer before picking up, repeat. Leave dim light on and some soft music. Good luck
Colic, probably.

My nephew had it really badly, and seemed most comfortable in his car seat.

Some nights the parents ended up sleeping with him kipping in his car seat between them on the bed.
Have you tried womb music?
A friend of mine had real trouble getting her wee boy to sleep - starting playing this womb music and amazingly it worked straight away.
Is there a youtube link Rr?

I'm sure I've heard that genre, somewhere before.
carry on regardless.
Thank you mamya
Ozzy, I don't think it would work for you - you have been out of the womb too long!
1. turn on vacuum or washing machine
2. babe sleep with you
3. babe sleep with tv on

Mine slept in pram or couch but always near me - so they were in earshot of my expletives :D
might be worth treating for colic to rule it out
10pm colic is a "thing" My godson used to get it. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/colic/#
