We called in at the pub to have a drink with two English friends who live in the village. They were chatting to some English tourists passing through.
The landlord heard us chatting about the different ways St. Patrick and St. George are celebrated and called out to us......

Come on now.......it's your saint's day......you need to be celebrating.....what are you having......it's on the house......and he joined us for a a St. George's Day drink......

How nice was that!

Very hospitable - cheers x
There has been St George discussions here today - not as blissful as that though.
Definitely bliss, well done to the landlord.

You are both certainly living in a great place.

We are, Marval.....this is quite a special village......x

I did see, Mamya and it saddened me. I recall the days when the greetings were sincere and there was fun and banter.......today was more like immature playground behaviour......x
What a man that landlord is, very hospitable indeed.
I have a drink everyday to say thank you I was born English!! Nice to see you are settling in well
Very nice...there are some decent people about when sometimes one feels all hope is lost xx.
Most people are good, kind, and thoughtful. We miss that when we focus on the minority

Indeed, Rowan......the folk pouring cold water on life just seem to come to the fore too often...x
The problem with going out for a St George's Day drink is that you never know who you might bump into:

It might be

or even

I might still be tempted out though
