school meals cost an average of £2 per pupil per day, that's £360 a year.

MPs can claim up to £400 a month, that's £4800 a year for food.

8 million people live in food poverty in the UK, 2.2 million of those are school children. (only 1 million children were eligible for free school meals in 16/17)

On the 1st of april 2018 100,000 more kids will lost their meals.

On the 1st of april 2018, MPs salaries rose to £77,379

Why is this in jokes Spath? Don't think it's in the least bit funny.

It's a joke in the sense that they take us for a joke.

MPs should be paid a low wage. This would weed out the worms, and leave us with those who actually care for our country.
Question Author
I wholeheartedly agree though, it is not funny in the slightest.
I'm not quite getting the connection with school meals but while I understand MPs are valid targets for complaints their salary is actually quite low. Most of the senior managers where I work are paid a lot more than that, the directors and the up to 6 layers higher than directors to CEO are twice to 6 times that much. And lets not get into footballers. That's life.

And that's the apathy which encourages it.
