Toyota will respray the main body of the car but not the bumpers. The bumpers l will have to pay for myself if l want them done, which is probably going to cost me about £800. Should Toyota be liable for the bumpers as the problem for the respray is their fault. If l don't pay for the bumpers to be done they will look different to the main body of the car and reflect in the price of the sale of my car.

In my view, Toyota should pay for the entire car to be resprayed, bumpers and all. You might be better off if you get a lawyer's advice, rather than arguing on your own with Toyota.
£800 to spray two bumpers? Are they using gold paint?
Do you have "Legal Cover" on your motor or home insurance policy?
i'd have thought it would be easier and maybe no more expensive to do the whole lot rather than cover some bits up.
Are these the original bumpers? What makes you think the colours won't match?
FF...you'd be surprised how quickly paint fades.
"Are these the original bumpers? What makes you think the colours won't match?"

Whenever you have part of a car resprayed it rarely - if ever - matches. There is the problem of paint batches where paint of allegedly the same shade varies from batch to batch. As well as that the original paint tends to change colour over time (usually it fades). Do you know why they won't spray the entire vehicle?
Thanks- I realise they fade but we don't know here whether the car is a few days old or a year old, nor do we know the colour. Black is black, isn't it, for example. Seems odd though that they won't do the whole thing- makes me wonder if there is more to this case
The problem may affect the body but not the bumpers.
'Black is black isn't it?' - you've never painted cars have you?
I used to have a car repair business. You'd be surprised how many variation of colours there are.
What can I do, 'cause I, I'm feelin' blue.

Have they explained why they won't do the bumpers?
have they accepted it's a warranty problem or are they claiming it's a 'goodwill gesture'?
