Apart from Amazon, that is.

Most of the other sources seem to be on a subscription basis (AppleMusic, Spotify, etc).

Is there anywhere else that will sell you a single track without a monthly sub?

Well, when I try it on my iTunes I get redirected to AppleMusic, which wants me to sign up for 3 months.

How do YOU get them off iTunes without subscribing?
Are you sure you’re using the ITunes app and not the Apple App?

The iTunes app is a white star on a pink background on my iPad and the Apple app has two musical quavers on a white background.

You can buy single tracks for 99p. There is No monthly sub.
Lots of firms have tried to enter the UK music downloads market but none of them have been able to make it pay. (Those that gave it a go included Tesco, HMV and Zavvi). These days there are very few alternatives to Amazon and iTunes. The main players are listed here:

Alternatively, as Snags suggests, you can do what millions of other people do and stream-rip tracks from Youtube. It's totally illegal, and costs the music industry billions of dollars every year, but it's certainly an option. (I only use stream-ripping to get tracks that I can't buy online in the UK, such as some Asian music or perhaps youth choir performances. I pay for everything else).

Chrissa1 - spot on, that’s where I was going wrong!

(Also thanks for the other thoughts).
That’s good news, bainbrig.

Fine, it works on my iPad - there is the iTunes Store icon, star on pink.

But how do I get to the same place on my Mac?

Much as I Google, I still end up with AppleMusic etc! Is this my fault, or don't iTunes allow iTunes Store to be opened on a Mac/PC?
iTunes store is accessed via the iTunes app on a Mac, it should be one of the tabs at the top (working from memory as I'm at work)
Question Author
Ta Fitz, it was there (of course), I just had to click 'store' to access it. I suppose it is easy, but sometimes I think it could be EASIER.

Thanks again.
