Lidl Special Offer

I turned up at my local Lidl store @ 9.08 to purchase a Fujitsu tablet which was on limited special offer. The staff member said their were all sold within minutes of store opening @9.00 am.
A very small amount of "non" Lidl shoppers would have got these tablets leaving the vast majority of regular Lidl shoppers disappointed.
How on earth could this be a plus for the image of Lidl? A small number of people are happy but the majority are unhappy. I am lucky that Aldi have a store nearby so i know where i will be going in future.
Do the management of Lidl not realize that sometimes these so called limited offers could in the end leave a negative approach towards their image. Maybe they do not care, but as for me as a customer i do care. The customer is always right. Or is he!

What do you expect? They advertise these offers and people take them up. I'm sure the non regular customer probably bought other things at the same time.
I understand that it is disappointing to miss out on a great bargain, but it is a case of first come, first serve.

How do you know that the people that managed to buy the tablets were "non" Lidl shoppers? And why should that make any difference to you? Would you be less upset if regular shoppers had got them and you still had missed out?

I love Lidl and Aldi, great bargains but I accept that they have limited stocks of most things and if something isn't available when I'm shopping, it's just tough I'm afraid.

If you want a supermarket with better reliability of stock, go to Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's etc.
Special offers always go quickly and more so if heavily advertised as this was - likely there was a queue long before they opened up.

Not much the store can do really.
I'm sure I've seen in the blurb that there is limited availability.

Anyone can sign up to the email alerts and just because you don't recognise a shopper it may simply mean they usually shop at a different time of day to you.
You should have turned up at 8:59 to give yourself a better chance.
But would anyone go get this offer then return to their favoured supermarket to buy milk and sugar? Doubtful...

Job done Lidl...
Aldi also have this 'problem' - they manage it by having a security chappie to manage the queue outside the store before opening time and even issue numbered tickets for the really desirable items.

It's not ideal, but it won't stop me shopping there.

If you knew it was a 'Limited Offer' why leave it 'til 0908 to try and get one, sounds like a home-goal to me!
I think most will realise they can not expect others to hold back until they get there. It's their choice to see if they have any left later or be one of those camping outside the store for a sale item. I know which I'd rather be.

Thanks Old_Geezer, at least i got some support from you. As for me, not in a million years would you see me grovelling and queuing for something before a store opened. I suppose that is why we still have the word "masses" in our language. When everyone else runs towards the cliff edge its people like OLD_GEEZER and myself sit back and enjoy the view!
I'd rather go without than queue.

I wouldn't shop in Lidl in the first place.
You should have got up earlier, porkchop.
What annoys me about Lidl happened about 3 years ago to me.I wished to purchase a petrol generator at a knock down price.I arrived just after opening to be greeted by hoards of our ethnic friends charging out the store with big grins on their faces like they had just looted the store. On their trolleys were two or three generators. When I got in the store ALL GONE.I accept the principal of first come, first served and the early bird catches the worm but what infuriated me was the the amount each customer got away with purchasing.Much more fair to have a policy of one purchase per customer.Who needs three generators?
.Who needs three generators?

Those that flog them for a profit later, retrocop.
Exactly Tony. They are probably in some kraal in the svelte powering up a mud hut after much profit made.
porkchop - may I just hijack the thread for a mo please.

Yes, you could have a Google maps birds eye view on a tablet.
you should of got there earlier, the shops aim is to make a profit.
fairness is irrelevant, if you don't like it vote with your feet and shop elsewhere.
