20a In short, unclassified roads, put us outside Chester's extremes: ?c?s Is it an abbreviation - ucss or ucrs perhaps? Haven't been able to find anything but I can't think what else it can be.

Ucrs would give Us(put us around) CR(extreme letters of Chester. Though Ucrs is a word I've never heard before

That was my thinking too, but I've never come across it either.
UCRs is used on a number of sites http://www.coltonparishcouncil.org.uk/Off-Road.htm

well well - I'm on our community council & I've never come across that - perhaps it's different in Wales!
