Daunting not to be on CB but Ed will only move me. :-(
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time was wonderful and moving. I so want to see it in London now.
The set, which was in the centre of the audience, was brilliant and if ever lighting technicians deserve an award it's for this.
Performances couldn't be faulted. Christopher and his parents made my heart break...made me laugh and made me cry.
A brilliant production all round...an absolute award winner I hope.

The girl, three seats away, who opened a bag of crisps during the first heart touching speech in a silent, breath holding cinema didn't get to eat them. She giggled and sniggered at my very loud....Shush now please! so I did a MrsO during the interval. In a kind but loud voice I apologised for shushing her but was aware she may not have been out to the theatre or cinema before and didn't want her to embarrass herself. She was very quiet after the interval.

she may have been accustomed to chomping crisps and not realised the peril it would put her in from irate live actors if she tried it in a theatre.
sorry, that first bit should have read "in the cinema"

We were in the cinema jno. Broadcast live from NT. I don' see why people need to chomp chomp through a performance anywhere. I wasn't having a beautiful speech and Christopher's reaction ruined by rustle chomp chomp.
oh, right, sorry, I misunderstood. Chomping and popcorn and stuff is one of the reasons I don't go to the cinema any more. (Bad hearing is a better reason.)

It's flipping quiet over here. :-( Usually having a giggle five posts in. I may have to find away to be in the wrong category without Ed noticing or I could find myself becoming serious and all alone in the correct category.

And how come Farnsbarn above is still here? He's not Arts...........
I hate it when folk open any type of sweets/snacks. If they want to chomp, go watch a loud film when during the action whizz-bangs they can open to their hearts content.
Do you remember the days when the ice-cream lady came round at the interval?

(I've reported the advert btw)
aha, either a mod or the Ed has arrived!
Question Author
I do remember the ice-cream lady, Alba. No huge smelly tubs of popcorn then.
ice cream ladies still appear at the interval in live theatre, though the seating arrangements are usually too complicated for them to do the rounds, so you have to go to them over by the doors. Funny how live theatre = live ice cream ladies. But I don't know whether you get them at "live theatre in cinema".
Question Author
Jno. Live Theatre in the cinema is fetch your own.
Ah yes, Annoying Things People Do In Theatres. Loud munching of food and rustling of wrappers is infuriating, as is ice clinking loudly in drinks. I don't get how the person can't realise it's annoying, or how more people around them don't seem to be bothered by it.

People using their phones, talking... On a theatre message board I saw someone complain that the girl who came and sat next to them took her shoes off and put her sweaty feet up, stinking the place out. I've heard tales of people opening up containers of steaming hot food and eating it, including pizzas and even curry.
Question Author
I knew people near me were annoyed but no-one did anything. Later, I spoke to a friend who was sitting a few rows from me. She said she knew when she heard the big....SHUSH!.....it would be me. I sound grumpy but I really don't see why people can't eat at home then sit and enjoy the performance.
Glad I am not the only one driven mad by the rattle and thump of popcorn buckets and rustling sweet papers. I was seated behind a couple of people who talked non stop. I wasn't as brave then.
