Job interview like the Apprentice

I went for a job interview yesterday. It was for a Trainee Administrator/Estimator position within a print production company. Having not had an interview for approximately 6 years I really didn't know what to expect but I was shocked by what I experienced.

Nowhere in the job specification does it mention a sales element or cold calling, as if it had I would not have applied but one of the things that were highlighted to me on the interview was that this is an important function of the role. Also, for such a diverse role which appears now to be admin/technical estimation/sales, the pay is minimum wage which I did not know prior to attending interview as they had not advertised the salary.

The interview lasted 50 minutes with two company directors bombarding me with questions relating to sales negotiation, profit margin and turnover etc. It absolutely reminded me of the Apprentice at the interview stage, which would be great if it was a high powered job offering a £100,000 salary but it was advertised as trainee admin (lowest position in company) and it's minimum wage!!! I feel that these people are exploiting the recession and it makes me very angry.

They know that people are desperate for jobs at the moment and you are right, they are just taking advantage.

Thanks Snowball. It's quite sad really because the mass being unemployed is not their fault but these people make it a great deal harder for people to get back into employment
They do some crazy things when getting you in for an interview. One I attended they asked me to sit down but on the seat was a very visible portion of used chewing gum. Maybe they wanted to see my reaction.
I applied for a job at my local supermarket as a cashier, and sent in my cv which included managerial experience, and they said I wasnt qualified enough! and who works on the tills? kids no older than 16! They just wanted to pay the absolute minimum
they want to employ robotic monkeys and pay peanuts!

Yes, it's infuriating. Snowball, that is unbelievable.
I know bookboo. The girl that have just taken on, god I could slap her! She yawns while she is scanning your shopping, whilst chewing gum. And then, to cap it off, while you are putting your card in the machine and entering your pin etc, she actually puts her head on the conveyor belt and shuts her eyes. I kid you not.

My goodness Snowball. There are some right douchebags around that really make me wonder how on earth they are in employment. It seems some employers aren't interested in quality these days
