Maybe he`s sheltering somewhere because of the rain? They hate getting wet. My mum`s cat always returns home from her travels dry when it`s tipping with rain. She`d rather shelter somewhere until it stops than make a run for it.
No big deal..........one of ours has been away for 36 hours and come back......mind you, if I lived in a built up area, then I might be worried.
They venture further and further....

I cried like a baby the first time mine didn't come home....he strolled in crying for food as usual...

Mine caught his first bird yesterday :-( brought it in, still alive, looking very pleased with himself. Took the bird off him....and then he turned into a wild animal.
hope he shows up soon, murph buggers off from time to time, she always find her way back tho
I'm dreading letting Eric out for the first time... I'm not sure he likes me enough to come back!
My friend always worries when her cat is out all night.
She said there`s nothing that makes her happier than seeing her pussy at the window of a morning!

We've had tiger for 5 months approx. kept him in for the first few months, than after his jags, we felt confident letting him out.
we live in the countryside, but we have a few houses nearby and one busy road next to the school. fingers crossed he'll come sauntering home. ive got 2 girls who are going to notice his absence
don;t do the butter on the paws thing, just makes a mess

keep shaking the biscuits every now and then

he's grounded for the rest of the day.
glad he's home :-)
My daughter has 2 cats and 2 weeks ago she moved house just round the corner. Although she had a removal van the 2 cats kept following her round when she walked round to the house. They settled in ok going in and out as normal. Now one of them is missing for 10 days. Have kept going round to old house but not to be seen. She is hoping someone has taken him in as he is very friendly so we are hoping that when they do finally let him go out that he will come back to house . It is a worry when you do not know what has happened to them.

237sj at the risk of stating the obvious, if your friend always worries about her cat being out all night why the heck doesn't she keep it in? She has every reason to worry as cats are more likely to come to harm during the night. See the link here.

I reckon he's probably been hiding somewhere from the rain....mine used to disappear all the time and I fretted about them til they eventually turned up.

Just saw you live in the countryside.... he's gonna love exploring :D
So glad he's come back safely.

It sounds like he's decided to explore a bit further afield, and as others have suggested, he will have shelterd from the rain - if you think about it, you almost never see a wet cat, or any cat out in the open when its raining.

Little monster, giving you such worries!

I bet you weren't cross with him though!
Mine 'rain' bathes.

oh Wendilla it's sad, i hope your daughter and her missing cat are reunited soon.
thanks Mcfluff, i did continue to shake the biscuits and lo and behold he popped out of the bushes.
i dont think i would ever let tiger out in the night, my nerves have had enough today
Andy-hughes no i was not cross at all, i did demand to know where he'd been tho. he just looked at me. oh well.
Mrs Jones always had problems getting her cat in for the night. He had a mind of his own and was driving her nuts. She had been doing some serious thinking and had come up with the following solution. Smugly she went to the back door, and banging a tin of cat food with a spoon called out "Here kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty" !

Hope this helps!
