When I was an impressionable teenager, I became addicted to a particular imprint from Penguin. They produced a list of books with really nice matte laminated covers and great designs, called Penguin Originals.

I managed to track down one of these, "In the eyes of Mr. Fury", which I am re-reading now. However, there was another one in the list and I cannot remember the name. It was also made into a film, about 3 kids who were left to fend for themselves following the death of their mother.

Can anyone think of the name of the book of film, and secondly, do any of you have any Penguin Originals?

The book for The Cement Garden was written by Ian McEwan in 1978 so I doubt it is the one.
I think Penguin Originals could be reprints - the idea was that they were an author's first novels or something like that (I could be misremembering). The Cement Garden was McEwan's first (he'd written short stories before that).
I have the whole set (addicted to th design) contact me for the list
