Why is our prime minister taking on the roll of Foreign Secretary?

It seems that Cameron is always abroad leaving in charge a Lib/Dem to lead the country.

It is interesting to note however that the Prime Minister flew into Cairo urging Egypt’s new military leaders to make good on promises of full democracy on one hand.

Yet on the other hand it was said that "Mr Cameron was due to meet members of the anti-Mubarak opposition, but not members of the Muslim Brotherhood, the largest political organisation in the country".

So it would seem that "full democracy" means "only if the Government you vote in is the Government that we want in".

PM's love flying about the world.

Abroard they get to look statesmanlike without having to solve nasty difficult problems that require them to solve impossible quetsions.

Tony Blair was always jetting around the world.

Well the Muslim Brotherhood has decided (last I heard) not to contest the election so I'd imagine that was the reason.

However yes it probably would have been a good idea if they had been included to avoid misinterpretation
Stop being so parochial. I think there is more to this than meets the eye and I suspect that he is the lead man on behalf of the EEC and the USA - and that there is some concerted diplomacy going on.

There we are with the risk of North Africa going 'tits up' and a potential threat to the underbelly of Europe and you are demeaning some leadership by DC. Also remember in that part of the world, the presence of the leader is more influential than the number two........actually in the world of major business, the process is called 'mirroring' - i.e. a CEO expects another CEO (or someone with experience at the level) to deal with him/her. Ditto politics.

A lot of these visits have quiet sounding out sessions with the opposition that do not necessarily get reported...........for obvious reasons.
///Mr Cameron said he would tell the military to “make sure this is a genuine transition from military rule to civilian rule.///

I'm surprised we are able to 'tell' another country what to do. Who does Cameron think we are? Its the Wests support for the previous regimes that have caused the riots in the first place.

Britain is such an unequal democracy that others must copy or so they would believe!

I think it's wonderful that Tony Blair applauds the way the egyptian government 'listened to the voice of the people' after 250,000 people demonstrated.

I recall when over a million Brits demonstrated against the iraq war he ignored it!
.
I think cameron should stay at home and sort this country out first ; the only mummy he knows about is Thatcher''' put your own house in order first...
