eh? where does it say it was only down to the front page ?

isn't a part of school (and parental) teachings to be extra viciglant and stranger aware at all times?

sorry in the link

( My daughter goes to a Tameside Secondary School and when I asked her has she been told about these warnings she said no!! What's the point in sending the warnings if the schools are not passing them on to the children?)
i did. this is the second warning to schools in a month.

what am i missing? do you mean the 4 comments at the bottom?

i agree it would be alarmist (as saiddin the article) to tell the specifics of each incident to children. so generally 'be extra vigilant' and 'travel in groups' should suffice. either that or the kids weren't listening to their teachers (which is quite likely).
My boy was told to be vigilant 'at all times'..........not just when there was a particular scare.
If the teachers/adult staff had already been alerted to pay more attention to just who was hanging around near the school then the warnings had served their purpose.

it is better to catch the person now then have some poor child's body found in a ditch and then stick in on the front page.
all children should have been warned and all people should have known what vehicle this person drives.
all those extra eyes looking and checking
That very article says

As reported in the M.E.N. a warning was sent to all schools in Tameside in November after two attempts to abduct children within hours of each other.

Perhaps you might ask your daughter if she's been skipping assemblies

Based on experience of bringing up kids there is the tiny faint chance of them telling porkies!
"all children should have been warned and all people should have known what vehicle this person drives"

yes and every range rover or transit van driver would have been dragged from their cars and beaten by the mobile vulgus.

(Detective Chief Inspector Denise Worth said:

“I do not want to cause any undue alarm in the community but it is right that pupils and their parents should be warned so they can take extra steps to ensure they are safe.)

are the parents telling porkies
dunno, but it sounds like they are demanding to be outraged.
Well all I can say is that when there was a similar event in my kids' area a year or two back there was an announcement ant a letter to parents.

I'd be really surprised if the school hadn't passed this on.

Why don't you e-mail your daughters school and ask them if they've made an announcement?

jake where have i stated that i have kids
Sorry - you put that in brackets rather than quotes - I interpreted that as you being a local parent too!
Question Author
that in brackets is from one of the posts in that link

just for the record how should i have put it ?
...the same way you did at 09.21....?
I use quotes myself or more recently double slashes //etc// as that seems larger and more visible on screen

appologies though- my mistake
Question Author
Ankou that is in brackets
Question Author
thank you for that i will use slashes next time
Some of these <<..........>> or ///............./// help show where you have snipped a comment.
(I thought it was a personal statement, too, DrF)
maybe you should have added "chocoholic manchester said...."

just to give it some gravitas, like.
