Harriet Harman, the former Equality Minister, normally notorious for her politically correct views, has dared to call ginger haired Treasury Minister Danny Alexander a ‘ginger rodent’.

This is from a woman who spends most of her time sticking up for minorities of all types, or don't ginger haired people come under her brief?

What would have been the outcry if someone had called a black person 'a black rodent'?

there was an outcry.

She apologised.

Don't tell me you're demanding that she should be politically correct? You normally insist on the right of people to say what they want.
"Britain has racism, it's just not very good at it. Y'all give it a go...but, like, ginger-haired people...that ain't even a race but y'all lay into them like...."

Some of her children are ginger-haired so she has no hidden agenda against ginger-haired people.
Ginger people tend to have a sense of humour. They had to....

My OH use to be almost orange as a kid. He'd find a comment like that really funny. He is very childish though....

It was a silly and cheap comment and she has apologised. You should learn from that. Usually when you make a comment on here which people have found offensive, you take great joy in often repeating it.

She may be a nasty politician, but at least she Learns.
Isn't the PC term 'auburn' or titian'?
Helen...is he odd? Everytime he sees a Ginger on telly he laughs at them.

Like he says....embrace the gingerness and we will achieve world ginger domination...!
For som reason it seems it's ok to have a go at Gingers not sure why I suppose HH is just latching onto that. Good job she didn't say a certain word begining with N and an anagram of Ginger!
And what's wrong with rodents?

Haaaaaa! Political correctness is absolutely potty. Presumably calling him a rat without defining what kind of rat would have been acceptable.
She called him a Tory. Now, that really was an insult.
Ahhh, well, that explains a lot. Thanks Sandy. ;o)
There is a 'personality-type' in public life who seem to consider their actions to be above reproach; and the fact that these actions are contrary to the behaviour they expect in others bothers them not one bit.

Harriet Har-per-thing is merely onesuch........
And what's wrong with Political Correctness? Isn't it just a lubricant to ease our passage through life?
Sandy, I couldn't have put it better myself.
