Access Database

As per my previous thread, IT have surpassed themselves and while they can offer me operational support, there is no one who has the level of specialised knowledge to help me or point me in the right direction to create my own access database and while I understand and have watched/assisted someone else in creating an access database, I definitely don't currently know how to do it all myself. My only option is to contact the training department. This is all well and good and I certainly don't mind being sent off on a course or three but in the meantime, I'd like to make some sort of basic start, even if just to see if what I have in my head can actually be achieved with access.

So after all that ^^^ rambling, does anyone have a link or know of a site that does a very simple, step by step, idiots guide to setting up a basic access database please? Also, I know we can obviously generate specific reports from access, can we also generate a report that perhaps has graphs or tables should this be needed? I've not seen that done before.

Thank you!

what version of access as the guides will be different. (Though I can't offer any help personally, I hate Access, now if you want to make databases in filemaker pro that would be a different story)

Chuck... I've just been told by the training department that I'm not allowed to have training in flaming access because a director doesn't want all the staff to be able to create access databases (a logic I can kind of understand but I'd like to know how else they propse I bloody well do it!). I think filemaker pro would probably blow their tiny minds... And I'd never get the authorisation or license to install it anyway! I'm so peed off, I know I'm not great in a technical world but I can at least see when there must be a better way to do something! :c(

It's access 2003 btw... sorry for the rant!
China there is a dummys guide to Access - I have it, cos I need it. :-)

Its quite good for the basics.

As dave said the dummies guide is very good stating point, there is also a simple guide to creating a CD database here, which although is not what you want to do ultimately folowing it will give you a very good idea of how it all works together
