What would the implications be for NATO forces in Afghanistan, if supporters of the opposition leader, Abdullah Abdullah, take up arms against Hamid Karzai's Government?

Taking into consideration that Abdullah's supporters are from Afghanistan's Tajik community, who fought against the Soviet invaders and then the Taliban.

Whilst it would be foolish to ignore the possibility we have to look at who is making these threats.

two former mujahedin fighters said they still had their guns and warned that they had not forgotten how to use them.

This sounds rather like a reporter who has gone out and found a couple of hot heads. They don't appear to be talking for anyone but themselves.

If an unpopular result is announced there could be outbreaks of violence but that is not a civil war.

I think we need to see what Abdullah himself says if he looses.
Hmmm! That could certainly be a consequence - how come we always end up defending dodgy leaders?

It would be terrible if the troops ended up defending corruption because of political expediency. Looks like another Iraq brewing up......
We always end up defending dodgy leaders because wars and civil wars tend to produce leaders who have a history.

Look at the earliest politicians in Israel, Ireland, France, America. Fledgling countries tend to vote in the leaders who lead their revolutions.

They need time to mature, for professional politicians to come to the fore.
Is this the real reason as to why the election results are being drip fed to us?
If Karzai`s winning declaration is suddenly announced Abdullah`s supporters would go crazy.

So according to my 9 day forget theory the longer the completed results are held off, the will to fight deminishes, as in a few weeks no one will know who or what is going on?
