I actually disagree Berti.....I have been hit by a speeding cyclist .......it's bloody painful and I was off work for 2 weeks

Sorry to hear that - Hope you have fully recovered .
The speed trap has been brought in after a two-year-old girl was struck by a cyclist along Bournemouth seafront last summer, leaving her with a cut to the head.

Or maybe they should make parents supervise their 2 year olds properly.
I would have thought it was impossible to enforce a speed limit without a) a speedometer on the bicycle and b) a speed limit sign. I think a better use of resources would be to allocate part of the promenade to a cycle lane with all the warnings and road markings that are customary on such lanes. I wonder just how long it will be before some savvy Bournemouthian challenges the policeman to take the matter to the courts for a legal decision.

I think everybody should take care in their daily lives, of themselves and of others, I really do dislike the 'nanny state' .

I dont think anyone will be challenging this in court , given that offenders are are only given a safety talk .

It might be different if someone had their expensive bike confiscated , although I doubt that would be legal
I am not so sure BertiWooster, there is one man who apparently cycles that route each day to and from work. What if his employer decides that being held up while the police give you a safety lecture is an excuse too far? In these insecure times some employers are just looking for excuses to cut staff cheaply. I just don't think the police have right on their side in this case.

Do you know the answer?

The crime rate must be very low in that neck of the woods .
