I recall that Barry Cryer once said on "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" that the Rev Spooner would have described Clive Anderson as a shining wit, but I am stuck on 25 across "It keeps hot pot for Reverend Spooner" (3-4) TEA ?O??"

just woken up: pot hot = tea cosy

ummm... tea cosy?... but I can't see where Spooner would come into it
clue would normally be "keeps pot hot.." but Spooner would have said "keeps hot pot ..".
yes, I suppose that makes sense, sedge, but I don't think Spooner did anything so straightforward as swapping whole words round....
......but, but, surely -- um - yes I'm sure you do see really, you were being ironic weren't you jno?
