Goth murders appeal - Hope they increase sentence

So the morons who kicked that poor young girl to death have appealed (I know it was called the "Goth muder" but she was a young girl first and a Goth second).

Wouldn't it be great if they INCREASED the sentences. The longer these morons stay in jail the better.

Maybe if people do a pointless appeal we should add a few years to their sentence.

Why don't people just wipe these people off the face of the earth, why should valuable oxygen,space and time be wasted by people who obviously have no regard for human life, that would be a good example to set to people who commit such hideous crimes.

The report doesn't give the grounds for the appeal. If the sentences were grossly out of line with other sentences for similar crimes, it may well be they're being treated unfairly. Justice should be the same for all.

Jno- I normally love your sense of fairness, but not in this instance.

The scum, and they are scum, involved in this case should be exterminated along with their families.

My daughter is fairly close friends with Sophie's brother and whilst they were waiting for their order in a chippy last week, the relatives of these sub-humans were laughing about the case. Those lads have not once shown any form of remorse towards Sophie, Robert (her boyfriend) or their families, and neither it seems have their lowlife relatives..

sorry my arguments won't move those who are close to the case like you, B00, and I do sympathise. But for me the justice system operates for the good of society as a whole - it takes the place of family vendettas that go on forever in less advanced societies - which means it has to be fair. And I don't buy for a second the idea that miscarriages of justice are now impossible - that sounds like the sort of thing the Chinese government says. This is more like the truth:

There is no doubt mis-carriges of justice do occur and some are horrendous but in this case I can't see it.

Any sentence should be a deterrent as far as i'm concerned these people should go for a full life term, after all they will be out by their early thirties, but the young girls parents (and boyfriend) have got a life term just not within walls.

I am all for social conscience and the righting of wrongs but to extend this libralism to the scum of the earth is just plain wrong.

Victims are just that victims not injured participants.

Sentences do not deter

The US has the Death penalty and a massive murder rate.

There's no deterent to people who think they won't get caught ( most - otherwise why do it?)

There's no deterant to people who act on the spur of the moment.

What are the clear up rates in the USA its easy to play the odds. My logic may be flawed, and lets be honest its all very gray anyway, but theres no hole.

i havent heard of their being a mistake made by underpaid,over stretched scientists jake.there would be uproar if there was a mistake made where dna evidence was produced,and as i say i havent heard of any.although no doubt someone will soon prove me wrong lol.....

I work with the public and the scariest thing I find when I view these cases is the look in their eyes and the countenance on their faces this is after the event I get that self same look when I'm trying to get 75 pence off em for bus fare.
What annoys me in these cases is that the offenders say they're sorry (well usually) and then they appeal the sentence, they're sorry just not 12 years sorry.
You can't polish a turd, and you can't reason with such people they don't care if they're right or wrong just so long as they won the fight.
The callous nature of the casual violence in this country is very very worrying, I knew someone who was violently murdered (or manslaughtered as the law sees it, b0ll0x!) it puts a whole new spin on it.
We need stiffer sentences for violence, the bleeding hearts of liberals are creating the bleeding hearts of victims. Rivers of blood washed down the gutter by some other mother's tears.
Enough is enough I'm sick of it.
