... well it's not a cookery book as such, more an observant, witty non-fiction book about a man's love of cooking and cookery books- the mistakes he makes and his observations of the whole cookery book genre. I fancied reading it when I read a review and can't remember what it is...any ideas? thanks Poppy

Thanks Hellyon. No, it's not Nigel Slater though I love his books too- I've only discovered him recently so have a wealth of his stuff to get through but this alas is not his work.

Could it be Julian Barnes' "A Pedant in the Kitchen"?
