the pear tree estate stands at the highest point of rugeley and at the very top of the estate is a road called hillary crest named after this great man!

RIP
What about the other dude?He was there too but is forgotten. He was on sky news this morning.Sadly ive forgotten his name already .Sad innit?
I agree. My husband and I were just reminiscing. Edmond Hilary gave a talk at school. We have a signed copy of Ascent of Everest signed by both Hilary and Hunt. RIP
after the successful climb, he devoted much of his life to the building of schools and hospitals in Nepal and was made an honorary Nepalese citizen. I think that, as much as the ascent of Everest itself, made him a truly great man.
he hasnt died today has he so why would they mention him legend
Do you mean Tenzing Norgay who died some years ago or Mallory the British climber who may well have reached the summit before Hillary.

Hillary was the first to make it down alive.

But what's really great about him was really all the work that he did in building schools and other charity work in Nepal.

Many people could have got to the top of Everest few would have dedicated so much of their lives after to the people of Tibet who made it possible

A great Kiwi
as a point of interest did anyone know that Sir Edmund HIllary's grand father (i think it was or great grand Father) Sir William Hillary was the founder of the RNLI quite a family
