No matter if he's guilty, in todays Britain, he'll be out after a max of twenty years,
Yes, and then he will be rehabilitated into a family area, because he has more rights than innocent little children. GOSH, dont get me started.
I think every day this guy is in jail will be a living hell. Unless he is totally segregated, there will (hopefully) be no protecting him. I mean if I was a prison officer ( and probably a reason I never will be) I would urn a blind eye to this guy getting a kicking everyday he was inside.
Let's torture the rapists and paedophiles to death, simply execute the murderers, chop hands off thieves, perhaps just pull a few teeth out of people committing assault, brand fraudsters with burning irons, and deliver a few lashes to people caught speeding. We'll have a society to be really proud of then.
The man is scum, but if we're doing things like that in the name of justice, then we're no better than scum ourselves.
I've never been in a prison, so I can't comment, but I've never met anyone who said it was less than awful. And none of them were at the risk of punishment beatings from people looking to score a few points by bashing up a nonce.
prison, as I understand it, is to protect society from the criminal, and as far as I am concerned rehabilitation should not come into it other than the criminal realising that after a stay in prison he would definitely not go back.

The prison regime in this country seems to do all it can to protect the rights of the prisoner, which is wrong. Once you are convicted then you should have no rights.

And as for prisons being overcrowded....dont make me laff! There is plenty of room to house all convicted persons.....all that has to be done is remove libraries, association areas, tvs etc. and there would be plenty of room for more accommodations. Prisoners should be in their cells for all their time in prison except to slop out and to ride the 'hamster wheels' that should be installed to provide the barest amount of electricity needed to sustain a prison. Then there would be no inmate who 'ruled the wing'. In my view prison should be a punishment for the convicted and a respite for society from the convicted.

People convicted of violent crimes should never be released under any circumstance other than their own death.

I dont think you can generalise violent crimes. What about that guy in America who had murdered 2 people whilst very young and part of gang culture, spent 27 years on death row and then got executed. He had written books about the dangers of getting involvedf in these gangs and was a prominent anti~viloence, anti~gun culture figure. It was an outrage they still took his life. I dont think people who hurt children can ever truely repent or be rehabilitated as there has to be something mentally wrong with them but I still cant agree with the death penalty.

I think people who rob a house or mug a granny because they are addicted to heroin, need the libraries and the social areas, to study, to learn how to interact with other people. They need to be rehabilitated but maybe prisons for those who should never be released back into society, should be the most uncomfortable horrendous places known to man. Although I pity the people that would have to work there.
i do believe that what this person allegedly did to this innocent child is beyond most peoples understanding, there is no punishment suitable for this crime, sadly thwere are people in this world who are so evil no punishment will ever redress the crime.
I notice you don't get any stars, Nick. You don't get any for disagreeing with the poster ~ despite replying with a good answer ;o)
as i said on another thread, i am sure the boys currently residing at her majesty's pleasure, will make sure this guy wishes there was still a death penalty in this country
Oh yes.

He better hope he doesn't drop too many bars of soap in the shower...
I happen to agree with Nick, I think it was an oversight on wonder years part.
I can't believe that in a civilised society anyone would actually advocate a torturous death as punishment, and I suspect that even wonder years is actually just venting disgust for an truly horrific crime.
Thats why there is a justice system in place. So that we dont have to go dishing out revenge left, right and centre. If we bought back the death penalty is it right that we should expect people to take part in state sponsered murder. I wouldnt want to sit on a jury where I knew I could be condemning someone to death, I certainly wouldnt want to be the judge that sentences someone to death and I certainly would not like to anyone who physically took part in an execution and I dont think there are many people around today who would want any part in it either.
I would be more than happy to pull the lever / trigger / administer the injection on this b@stard and wouldn't lose any sleep over it whatsoever, I'm sure the poor little mites mother would quite like the job as well, I know I would if I were in her position.

If capital punishment is murder then surely sending someone to prison and holding them against their will is kidnapping?

p.s. look at jaime bulgers killers maxine carr and list of others who get shield and think they have a right not to be made know, i am glad when i read they after look over there shoulders everyday, them poor kids did,nt stand a chance from thease evil monsters, one day they get whats comming to them, if theres any proper juctice in this world.
I dont agree with the death penalty - too many mistakes, and it is unfair to expect another human to take anothers life - whether the law allows it or not - but i am quite happy for people like this to live the rest of their days in fear of being beaten and getting a good kicking on occasion.

i hope they are unable to ever laugh again
