Should Tony Blair be charged with war crimes over Iraq. With over 100,000 innocent Iraqis killed since the start of the invasion this surpasses any crime committed by Saddam Hussain. The Nurenburg trials set a precedent by saying Blair was only taking orders from Bush.

If he were charged would a similar fiasco take place like the Hutton affair into David Kelly and resulted in a whitewash. The masons have a lot to answer for!

the truth of the matter is that we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns.
Whose gonna try Tony Blair for War Crimes anyway? You honest joe? You, EverClean? Tony Blair and George Bush have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Iraq, and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That the invasion of Iraq, while tragic, probably saved lives. And the US Marines existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want them on that wall, you need them on that wall. They use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
wow!
put down that crack pipe and pull out of it
Excellent post juddlinski ! Seriously.

It sounds like Colonel Jessop's court speech in A Few Good Men.

War brings sh!te and ethical issues that few of us can dream of. We do not know what the balance of the evidence available to TB and GWB was. Anyway, pragmatically, war crimes are only those committed by the losers.

I second that, Great post.
It's pretty certain that the evidence available to TB was also available to Robin Cook as Foreign Secretary.

He resigned from one of the 3 top jobs in the Government rather than sanction the Iraq war.

maybe he couldn't deal with the pressure?
juddlinski- - what on earth do I have to thank you for?

I make the assumption from your ramblings that you are a Marine.

I've made no mention of "cursing the marines" and I can't really see where this comment comes from. At present there is no compulsory call upo to the army so whoever joins does so of their own valition. You cannot surely expect to do this job for thanks - if that was your intention then it's a misguided one.

The invasion of Iraq may have saved lives but has also cost lives. I know that sat at my desk typing this, I cannot imagine the horror of War and the conditions that soldiers and civillians in these places face. I don't pretend to. I do however support our troops doing their jobs and wish none of them any harm.

Blair went to War on the pretence that he was protecting all of us. He doesn't have the right to send our soldiers and Iraqi civillians to death in my name. He doesn't have my support or the support of millions of Britons.
actually he does have the right to act in your name as he was voted in as PM to do exactly that.
you don't owe him any thanks everclean, but i think sylvester stallone would like his script back.
He may have the political right and the legal right but certainly not the moral right. The guy is about as corrupt as it gets and the Labour party has gone down the same road as the Tories when they had been in power for too long. They are complacent and too easily guided by money and their sex drive. It's time for a change..................only problem is the altenatives look just as incompetent.
Ah - I Know things that you don't - I won't explain any more - I'm right & you are wrong.

Great argument!

I think the most pertinent point made is by whiffey "War crimes are only those commited by the losers"

I'm sure if Hitler had won, Bomber Harris would have stood trial for the bombing of Dresden. As it was, we won, and he is a hero.
Everclean I really wouldn't fight with somebody who's contribution to a debate is to quote Jack Nicholson's portrayal of a mentally unstable army Colonel!

Every murderous soldier in history has claimed "the end justifies the means!" and some variation of "you can't handle the truth"

If you ever read Goerings defense at Neurenburg the word that seems to come out most is "necessary".

But you still would need to find an action where civillians were killed without a valid military objective if you want to show a war crime

Hey, take him to court why don't you? It wont make me feel any better or otherwise! The masons may have somthing to answer for, I don't know , they can jump off a cliff for all I care. The thing is it doesn't actualy matter to me and my quiet little life. Keep the faith, - I don't need it.
Sadly, honest-joe,, I don't think it's going to happen. Look at General Pinochet (Chile), he escaped trial his whole life due to his powerful connections and carries on leading a comfortable, free life even now.

Unlike some Blair fans here, I don't think War is the answer to everything and I don't feel the need to thank Blair for anything, because he really has not done anything useful during his time as PM. Invading a weak, non-threatening country on a false whim is not something to grin proudly about in the newspapers.

er... I don't want to upset anyone, but I don't think Judlinski's posting a slightly reworded version of Col Jessop's speech in support of the views therein - hasn't anyone else clocked his/her answers to previous questions on here..?

S/he's extracting the michael from Col ADMarlow et al...

Irony can be very difficult to spot Waldo, sometimes impossible. Most wars have a high element of irony (sorry, didn't mean to invade Poland, only a joke anyway)
i DID A LOT OF RESEARCHING TO FIND OUT WHO THINKS THEY ARE A MASON, AND WHO THEY ASSOCIATE WITH, ALSO HOW MANY HOOLIGAN GANGS PRETEND TO BE THE MASONS, Seems like they are all related to each other, their secret is that often they plan their attacks like a bunch of yobs in their local pub, and often they are of no real rank or hierarchy, like in the public sectors- no rank- a public service, or they are farmers that are tenants and pretend to be land owners or even worse pretend to be the monarchy or aristocracy.Often it is thouhg tthat they are a conglomerate organisation, when in actual fact often they are family groups in insular localities that hide behind the label of the masons and are actually not masons. I 've recorded plenty of weirdo's with cult structures that imagine themselves to be the masons, and put out that thy are when they are not. The real masons died out about 200 years ago, cos people don't live that long, and if you look closely at all that they did as a group then, that all of it has been illegaliesed in some way.
Maybe thats what they think is the big secret--- seems like nearly 60 million people know it in this country-- by the way, one of them that imagines to be a mason told me that there are 5000 of them-- weird how they are all in one county-- all their bent pals and relatives that is. I RESEARCHED THAT PARTICULAR PLACE FOR 40 YEARS.OTHER PLACES- NOT SO LONG.
