Simple answer ...yes.I was once stiched up by a man who sold me a used car. Not because I was a typical woman only interested in the colour and where to hang my bag, but because he was a lying crook who sought and gained my trust by sheer deception. I took him to the small claims via the county court where he lived. I won the judgement and although an order was made to pay me, he never did. I however had the satisfaction of at least having a CCJ placed against him which won't exactly enhance his credit rating for the next six years.
only if they win. I've seen people try this, and lose; they have become permanently bitter. I once got hit by a car but deliberately decided not to take the matter to court (the fact that the other driver, although careless, was horrified and apologetic, did help), precisely because I fgured real 'closure' was more likely to be had by letting go. I've never regretted this.
I agree with jno, In my case it was only my pride that was hurt (and my purse), but where an injury or trauma has occured, it is far better to look to yourself for reconcilliation and closure. However a rightful claim should be given some consideration, after all that is what the sysyten is for

fair enough carol anne... I suspect what you felt was as much revenge as closure, and I heartily approve!

The last lord chancellor - Irvine - did market research on the acceptability of court procedures.

i was a witness and asked to fill out a form about how wonderful or not I have found the whole process

and I thought that that had been motivated by recognition that people were not satisfied with the oucome of the court process......
