Ellipsis, the Odessa File was the first of his books that I read. Loved it and that was me hooked.  RIP to a fine writer.

I've read a few of his books - The Odessa File was my favourite ...

What an incredible life.

R I P Frederick.

Never read any of his books. I rarely read novels unless I’m on holiday, and only then perhaps half of one in a week which I usually give up on. However….

Mr Forsyth was a rabid Brexiteer – far more rabid than me and much more eloquent when describing his views. In particular he was fiercely critical of the Civil Service for their role in attempting to thwart Brexit, which he described as “treachery”:

“Dave Penman, general secretary of the FDA union, which represents senior civil servants and other public sector leaders, said Forsyth’s attack in the Daily Express was the latest example of a shortsighted inability to understand the depth of Whitehall’s public-service ethic.”

Mr. Penman was wrong – Mr Forsyth understood it perfectly.

RIP, Frederick. I’m sure your books were good. But your political views were far more interesting.

not read him but enjoyed the films...

OH also had a life which could have been fictionalised - he will enjoy meeting Mr. Forsyth.

I do like the films... and still have an hard copy of 'The fist of God' ashamedly by me has being patiently waiting attention sat on my bookcase.

RIP Frederick Forsyth

Not at all.

There was more - much more - to Mr Forsyth than his books. I was pointing that out in my tribute to him. You will almost certainly find similar information contained in tomorrow's obituaries.

never understod why The Day of the Jackal was such a success as a book and film.  It was about a plot to assassinate General de Gaulle, but of course everyone knows it didn't succeed - talk about knowing the ending!  Zero suspense.

Same can be said of the bible 😉
