Yes, I think I could have handled a 92 year old bloke in a wheel chair with a butter knife without using a tazer and pepper spray.

I've been following this on my local news and I'm appalled.

He was brandishing a knife such as you'd use to eat your dinner with. It had a rounded point and I doubt you could cut a tomato with it very easily.

He couldn't stand without assistance and was obviously very frail. They could have taken a bed blanket, stretched it between them, simply walked towards him and held it across his lap and chest, restricing his arms from moving.

They allowed less than minute from first warning him he would be peppered or tasered from actually doing so. He was clearly very distressed over something and the officers should have taken more time to calm him down.

It was an absolutely disgraceful episode.

In fairness, maybe they haven't had any experience of proper policing so far. Just watching the Internet for thing posted and possible to twist, or maybe standing around while terrorist supporters act unacceptably, and seeing if there are any mild mannered objectors or even targets of the terrorist supporters, or maybe even independent journalists to arrest.

I saw this and was horrified. Have they no common sense? Apparently not...in spite of the knife,there were plenty of signs that a disabled, one legged 92 year old wasn't a serious threat. They could have talked to him...not used often but it just might have worked 🤔

Well thankyou for calling me a wally. Not all butter knives are rounded. I would suggest before insulting a 88 years old female that you take a good look at butter knives and you will see that some have a pointed blade. you're the wally. Furthermore the knife that he was holding was specially adapted for him. So no-one would have been able to wrench it off him. Otherwise the staff would probably have been able to do that themselves .

Doesn't matter if he had a zombie knife really there is no way that old bloke is strong enough or fast enough or could even move enough if he wanted to. Even if he had the intent. He was a confused old geezer easy to reason with and disarm.
