Following his EUSSR reset this week the PM has ruled out the possibility of any further referenda on the subject. The PM and cabinet generally feel that: "...there is enough on their plate without pandering to a few obsessives". A rare peice of common sense from the government I'm sure you'll agree.

Until his next U turn.

With the recent deal done by Starmer with the EU, Brexiteers must be apoplectic at the prospect of cheaper clothes, foot-ware and food available to British consumers.

or giving away the fishing rights, immigration controls & paying for the privilege?

Why would there be another Brexit vote?

They didn't need one to join it the first time*. The govt just did it as they thought it was in the country's best interests. It will no  doubt happen the same way again.

*fao pedants. The common market was not the EU.

Well tomus there are a lot of idiot remoaners who are wetting their alans because the think there may be one. I suspect the PM wanted to put the idea to bed.

Oh no, not another tranche of Brexit posts from the usual obsessives. Mercy on us.

“With the recent deal done by Starmer with the EU, Brexiteers must be apoplectic at the prospect of cheaper clothes, foot-ware and food available to British consumers.”

I’m more concerned with UK food manufacturers having to comply with EU food regulations (whether they sell to the EU or not); with the ECJ having jurisdiction over alleged transgressions of those rules; with 18-30 year olds having unfettered access to live and work in the UK; with the virtual abandonment of the UK’s fishing industry; with the continued destruction of the UK’s sea beds by French and Spanish bottom trawlers; the rejoining of the single market for food and electricity supplies.

Alongside that, the prospect of a couple of quid off a pair of poor quality foreign-made shoes does quite fill me with much enthusiasm.

Nothing less than I would expect from a Prime Minister devoid of any imagination and ambition for the country and the people in it. But looking on the bright side, this “Agreement” (aka capitulation) will make well and truly sure this hopeless shower are shown the door in four years time (not that there was any doubt previously).

Many people claim that EU standards (on many things) such as CE marking and other mandated regulations set a high-bar for manufacturers and suppliers to meet – but I would point out that in many instances these requirements are the minimum acceptable within the EU (with good reason).

UK food standards not meeting the minimum required for the EU should worry everyone.

Since Brexit, we have become a dumping ground for the supply of dodgy meat products – the limited number of import inspections have revealed a large number of consignments not fit for human consumption (how many have got through without inspection is anyone’s guess).

Once it becomes obvious to one of the main political parties that holding such a referendum would be a vote winner – it will be in their manifesto.

With Brexiteers unable to make a sensible claim to a single Brexit benefit; and the majority of the population aware of the epic blunder leaving the EU was, this is only a matter of time.

It's said that a majority want to rejoin the EU as a full member rather than the prefect's "fag" that Starmer is making of us but I'm not seeing much committed support for or action by this lot - https://therejoineuparty.com/

If you want it, fight for it you wimps - the brexiteers did!

Boo Hoo - I don't like Brexit, what the heck can I do about it?

I know - I'll carp incessantly on an insignificant internet forum - that'll get us back into the EU! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You never seem to understand in these discussions that it is not how good or bad the rules are; it is the fact that they can be imposed by a foreign body.

That’s fine whilst you agree with the rules. But I imagine you would prefer to see a rule with which you disagree imposed by the EU rather than one with which you agree imposed by the UK Parliament. Personally, I’m exactly the opposite.

“Since Brexit, we have become a dumping ground for the supply of dodgy meat products…”

The dodgy meat that has been intercepted since Brexit has been discovered mainly at the Channel Ports and either originated in the EU or was passed on by traders there.

“(how many have got through without inspection is anyone’s guess).”

Then you should ask yourself this: before Brexit no inspections were permitted. Do you believe that the dodgy meat trade only began in 2020? Or do you suspect it had existed long before that and it was facilitated by lack of inspections at national borders within the EU?

“With Brexiteers unable to make a sensible claim to a single Brexit benefit;”

There’s no need. All they have to do is to ask what benefits are in this latest deal for the UK?
