The court has told you what a woman is so take that on board and get on with your womens conference. Secure in the knowledge that they will actually be women there.

Why is Labour struggling so much with this?

Surely they can't have failed to realise that all they need to do is to restrict a women's event to genuine women ? It ain't rocket science.  But instead they postpone/cancel ?!

It's because they really don't accept the ruling of the court or indeed the court of common sense. So they want to make a song and dance about it.

On Tuesday, the regulator published a more comprehensive update to the code and began a public consultation, which it said had been extended to six weeks, from two, due to high levels of public interest and input from a range of organisations..

In view of this, it seems to me the decision by Labour to postpone its annual Women's Conference is quite wise.

Your headline is very misleading (as usual), something Ab Eds are quite keen on avoiding.

The Supreme Court did not say what a woman is and the judgment makes that clear. It relates to the meaning of, "woman" only in relation to a specific Act of Parliament, the Equality Act 2010.

'It is not the role of the court to adjudicate on the arguments in the public domain on the meaning of gender or sex, nor is it to define the meaning of the word “woman” other than when it is used in the provisions of the EA 2010.'

23:01 Who's the "regulator"? ...and who cares anyway anyone with an once of sense knows what a woman is and a few weeks ago the judges confirmed it. So what's to "consult" about?

Read the Judgment.

But an act of parliament isn't going to misuse words. So it's definition must be definitive.

The 2010 Equality Act did not define the meaning of, "woman" in relation to that Act but the Supreme Court judgement does.

...judgment...

This stupid on- going saga is like living in a dystopian madhouse.  For goodness sake, men are men and women are women!   That's all there is to it.  It just is.

Good: so whoever has the last word has defined it then, and we can move on, rather than procrastinate hoping to find a loophole and thus defy the intention of the law.
