If The Israelis Succeed In Driving...
... Palestinians from their homeland, in a massive piece of ethnic cleansing, how many should we accept as refugees?
Answers
"they may well but it is still a part of Israel"
not by choice they aren't. israel conquered gaza and the west bank by force and subjects the people who live there to a brutal occupation. the citizens of the palestinian authority do not wish to be part of israel--they are forced to be.
this incidentally is why some palestinians resort to terrorism. israel is in the habit of shooting peaceful protestors and also of raping and torturing palestinian prisoners, regardless of whether or not they have committed a crime. under those circumstances terrorism is not very surprising.
khandro
it is an indisputable fact that israel conquered the west bank and gaza. it is also an indisputable fact that the people in those territories do not wish to live under israeli occupation.
it is you that fails to understand realpolitik. if you occupy and brutalise people then they'll attack back, and they will do so in ways that are unscrupulous and violent. this is not to condone such behaviour, but it is an obvious and predictable result. the occupier in this situation is not the victim.
Untitled; 21:16 Sigh! The Israelis did not, & have never, set out to 'conquer' anyone. They have only ever responded to the existential threats they have suffered since their inception. Which is exactly what they are doing now against the Gazan 'leadership' which is dedicated to their destruction.
What would you suggest they do, and more pertinently, what do you think the proscribed terrorist Hamas administration should do ?
I suggest you read some of the earliest zionist texts khandro because you plainly haven't bothered. they were quite open about the need to colonise the area and if needs be to use force against the existing population because they understood that jewish colonisation of an area that was already populated would be resisted. have you read ze'ev jabotinsky's essay "the iron wall"? here are some quotes from it:
so yes khandro zionists have always sought to conquer and to colonise. it happened in the 1920s, it happened in 1948, and it happened when israel seized gaza and the west bank against the will of the people who lived in it. their goal is to remove arabs and replace them with jews. the only reason you will not call it that is because you agree with it.
As of 2024, the population of Israel reached about 9.8 million permanent residents in total. About 7.7 million were registered as Jews or other non-Arab populations. Furthermore, some 2.1 million Arabs lived in the country.
Strange that they live & work together in harmony, some Muslim Arabs are even part of the IDF !
The 'Palestinians' you so much sympathise with, are generally disliked throughout the Arab world, which is why none of them have stepped in to aid Hamas.
