Political rhetoric, not to be believed. Especially once in power.

Story just encourages one to restate once again that it's unnecessary since the correct action is to simply send them straight back.  That ain't going to change.

There already seems to be a lack of rented properties where I live.  We have a local Facebook group and there are quite a few posts from people looking for rented accommodation.  Often it is because their current rented house is being sold.  Many seem desperate to find somewhere so this would only exacerbate the problems being faced by many people.

will landlords be keen to have these folks as tenants?

I wish they'd spend the same effort on stopping the invaders in the first place.

At least one Labour MP who is a landlord will probably offer to take some of them in,  Jas Athwal MP who is a slum landlord would take anyone in as long as they are willing to pay and Labour will take houses from anyone willing to give them up for them.  So many coming across on the boats these days they must have run out of hotels for them.  Yet as usual for the people that actually pay the taxes there will be no affordable homes for them.
