Apart from identifying scum, what worthwhile outcome will there be?

Police won't attend and prosecutors aren't interested.

That's needed is direct action with big sticks and Tasers.

'What's'

well I suspect once recognised they won't be allowed in the store.

Some stores are bringing prosecutions against shoplifters

Not worth it. Facial recognition is a typical controlling mechanism for both governments and commercial enterprises.

What is needed are proper security guards, and a police system that takes an interest in crime.

Let's wait and see how it goes shall we?

I have been in stores in Aberdeen and even small towns such as Banchory where young men have came into small Metro type shops with a large shopping bag and have just swept shelves clear of such things as sandwiches and bacon. And then the bastrads just walk out the door without a care in the world.By the time the cops arrive the crims are well away.Madness.

Insanity that this should be tolerated. Hard and fast response should be mandatory. This nation and it’s population are a disgrace unto themselves.

Asda is a couple of years behind Frasers Group:

We know how it goes. It gets accepted as the norm before the next suppression of individual freedoms are applied.

How does Asda know what and how many products are being stolen ?

Do they keep a tab on every single tin of beans ?

On Wednesday, I was in a large supermarket and saw a woman fill a holdall with several joints of lamb. She then made her way out of the store and was stopped by security. She told him to "get lost" and he walked in front of her, whereupon she punched him and just walked off. I didn't stay to see what happened after that but I'm guessing the cops didn't attend, as they never do.

I don't see why it's an invasion of privacy.

If you step outside of your house people will look at you and and any recording devices out there will record you.

I never worry about being observed because I'm not a criminal. I just go shopping and to the pub. Normal things. Observe away big brother.

I would like a sliding scale of 'rights', the more a person offends, the fewer 'rights' they should have.

Shops will eventually end up as they used to be, served by someone behind a counter.

bazille: "Do they keep a tab on every single tin of beans ?" - yes!

Tesco home delivery drivers are to be equipped with bodycams to help protect them.

It's a shocking state of affairs

I'd prefer a taser, or at least a big stick.
