I'm pretty surprised she was even allowed to try. I thought There is a list of verboten countries for travel for people in her position, and hk is one of them

\\The MP for Bath, who is one of more than 40 parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (Ipac) which criticises Beijing's handling of human rights, said she had been given no reason as to why she was refused entry.//

I wonder why she was refused entry...

"I wonder why she was refused entry..."

I can't imagine. What an outrage!

The trouble witth some idealists is they cannot grasp the idea that not every country in the world is as daft as the UK. Some are particularly fussy about allowing entry to those who openly criticise it, especially when they are Parliamentarians and members  of a committee set up especially to do so.

Best, I think for Mrs Hobhouses new grandchild to be brought to the UK to visit her.

Sir Ed said the bar was "apparently simply because she is a British Member of Parliament".

Enough said.

Have other MPs tried & been refused entry to HK? I think we should be told.

The man behind her to her right, has he got a tea-cosy on his head ?

probly a monster raving loony candidate...

or Lord Buckethead

If a Chinese politician arrived at Heathrow with a tea cosy over his head, I think and hope he would be sent back to Beijing pdq. 🙂

that picture was an archive from an election night declaration!

From the link.

\\In 2021, China banned several British MPs from entering the country, including Ipac members Sir Iain Duncan Smith and Nusrat Ghani, and former security minister Tom Tugendhat.//

TORATORATORA, "you can't say tiddly now?"

You cannot use it in the way you did and that is the end of it.

"...and that is the end of it"

Do you have any idea how arrogant and drunk on power you appear when you come out comments like that?

concerning the thread... IPAC is a joke. china is not a threat to this country and it is absurd that we treat it like one
