America is letting everyone down. It remains to be seen if other nations can rise to the occasion to cover for Trump's handwashing.

The rich & powerful are often immune from their nation's problems, but the common people are not. Rural folk may swallow the government propaganda, but those in the cities will know the score better. Especially if they have family who have emigrated and can give them a better understanding.

Well not sure if the Ukrainian city people who had to flee their homes and and only have flattened desolate waste grounds to return to would agree.

It shouldn't be about money.

Turn the situation around.  If a foreign power invades Britain we would expect other countries to help us defeat the aggressor.  How would you feel if one or more country decides that it can't help any more because they need the money to build a sports stadium.

We have a moral obligation to offer support to Ukraine.

There are over fifty areas on this planet that have ongoing conflicts. We are supposed to be a civilised species.

We have more pressing moral obligations at home, not sport stadiums but proper health care, you know things like a ambulance turning up, or finding a dentist to look at your teeth, or being able to turn the heating on, sort all that, then preach to me about sending missiles to Ukraine.

If we let Russia have their own way, regardless of Trump's stance, it gives them a clear indicator that they can do the same to other former Soviet nations.

Then the former states can do what they think best. The u.k has huge problems of its own to deal with.

Anyone who thinks Trump loves America and is doing what's best for the country is seriously deluded. So far 90% of what Trump has done is going to have a negative impact on the lives of most ordinary Americans. He'll flush the country down the toilet and won't give a damn.

pastafreak, trumps getting rid of the barnicles, the uk should do the same with the blob of whitehall and local councils and within the nhs plus foreign aid money pit.

BARNEY, how many countries should Russia be allowed to invade before you think it right for the UK government to be concerned?

Trump is also dropping his own people in deep ****💩

Higher taxes due to his tariffs, higher prices due to his tariffs...particularly food. Threats to Medicare and medicaid provision, a reduction in quality of education. There's more... but these will affect a lot of ordinary working class people. (Like my family over there)

The first country that is a member of nato that's when, and Putin knows that.

^^^  ^^^

In that case make the ukraine a member of Nato.

Let's not..

"trumps getting rid of the barnicles"

no... he's massively damaging the american state and the world in order to look good and pose as a strongman on tv. that isn't leadership.

to give one example the US has stopped funding HIV medications in subsaharan africa... this is a programme which very few countries in that part of the world can afford due to the drug prices and is very likely to create drug-resistant strains of HIV in years to come as huge numbers of people go off their medications and develop AIDS. trump's government has also cut vaccine programmes which will see huge numbers of americans die from preventable illnesses. that's not leadership.

get up off your knees and stop treating this repulsive manchild like a hero. he's a demented old buffoon who is prodded around by a group of conmen and grifters who have captured the american government. america deserves better than this creature and so does the world.

Why not?

Because then we would have to get involved and for the last 2 hrs I been saying we got plenty of crappie to sort out here without trying to sort out their problems.

"Then the former states can do what they think best. "

barney do you understand that all of the post soviet states are smaller and weaker than russia? those countries rely on alliances with stronger powers like the USA. they are not big enough to resist on their own.

Pin back your ears - a couple of Sundays ago a curate mentioned in his sermon(in fact it hinged on it) that over 20 years ago he had been a manager in a car dealership in Denver (Clorado). He had been sent to a 'Motivation Day' in Downtown Denver.  There were a lot of speakers giving ideas how to motovate his salespepople and general staff.

Last man at the podium was a certain D. Trump.

He said (as reported to me) "Don't worry or care about who you tread on on your way to the top.  That's how it is.  You and your team are the important ones."

Ithorrified me - and now I see it in action.

barney4444,like it or not we are involved, and some time soon we might need help from other countries.

Don't you understand untitled that we are not rich enough or powerful enough to be the saviours of small ex russain states, and when I see first hand the day to struggles of ordinary people desperately trying to make it here against almost insurmountable odds I know where I believe our efforts should be directed.
