For many years after the end of WWII the UK paid back the USA for weapons/materials supplied under the lend/lease scheme.  Germany also paid heavily in repatriations to allied countries for the war.

 

Look out for Trump’s demands for multi-billion dollar repatriations to be paid by Russia to Ukraine as part of his ‘Ukraine surrender plan’.  Ukraine could then pay for some of the arms supplied by the West from this money.
