//.I hope us UK taxpayers arent paying for this charade.//

Are you kidding? Bliar's wicked witch missus has her stumpy legs planted right at the core of its inseption, and Starmer and his deceitful bestie Hermer the harmer are rooted in the perverse miscarriage of social misjudgements.

well the ICC is just a mechanism by which countries who believe genocide and ethnic cleansing should be stopped can try to enforce that. if countries like the USA or china refuse to get involved or even sanction it then obviously it will be in a much weaker position. that's a reason to support it not disregard it.

//Sovereignty extends to a country’s legislature being the sole arbiter of what happens within it and those decisions not being overruled by foreign powers. //

It's not a a foreign power though is it? It's a power we are part of. Moaning about their decisions is like moaning about Westminster's decisions. Understandable, but pointless unless you want decision making reduced to Acacia Avenue. Even then you'd be complaining about the lefties at no 23 and wanting to opt out.

Countries which want to engage in war crimes and genocide will do so. No "international law" will prevent them and so it is pointless having an "international court" to prosecute their leaders or those alleged to have particpated in the allegations.

As far as I know, the UK does not commit genocide. Nor does it permit, participate in or encourage slavery. Nor does it allow torture or imprisonment without trial or due process.

It doesn't do these things, not because they are contrary to "international law", but because it has legislation and conventions which prevents them and a government and judiciary which implements and controls them.

So those countries which do not behave contrary to "international law" do not not need the oversight of a foreeign court and those who might will ignore its rulings.
