Let's shut down all those tedious people who don't want their country invaded and turned into a caliphate. It will soon be illegal to express concern about the grooming gangs.

Labour the terrorist's friend.

^^ I don't think he means it literally, 'cos, as de man said;

"Wherever they burn books, in the end will also burn human beings." -   Heinrich Heine.

Sadly, that was quite prophetic.  ☹

Of course TCL, because they would see the benefit of forever changing the attitude of a brainwashed group as being well worth it for the whole world.

(Maybe afterwards we can change the attitude Americans have of flag burning too.)

OG, would you burn a copy of the Quran in public?

As one of billions of others; of course.

Just another glorified comic. To the recycling with the lot of them.

The worst thing for social cohesion that any government can do is capitulate to the demands on just one section of society.  As much as I abhor the burning of books none should be protected by law.

OG, you'd not  burn the Quran in public if you were alone or in a small group?

I'm unsure why all the ridiculous questions, TCL. Would you ?

FGS !

I think something should be done and we probably need an entirely new law.

Honestly, people write some nasty stuff on the internet every time an Islamist goes on the rampage with a knife, or explodes the odd suicide vest, it is disgusting, it really is.

OG, I'm not the one claiming it would be sane to do so, you are.

The thing is though, Corby, no one should be afraid to do it.

What purpose does it serve by burning the Quran or any other religious book?

None - but that's not the point.

Question Author

Fahrenheit 451 not withstanding I generally abhor the burning of any book. I just wish the adherents to the fairy tales in any of the religious work shop "manuals" would just show a bit of respect for everyone else rather than the standard death or conversion approach they often take.

If there is no point to burning a religious book but it causes offence to some and intentional offence to followers of that religion, why should it be acceptable?

People are offended by all sorts of things but that doesn't mean everyone else should shut up.  Why should the members of one religion alone be protected?

what if i burnt the 12 books of scientology, i don't think id be murdered for that, or the bible or the torah, but muslims would murder you if you burnt there's or drew a cartoon, why this barmy government is placating them is beyond me, they already do as they please, send daughters off to be married fgm multiple wives, cousin marriage, none integration, they have the highest percentage on benefits as an ethnic group, any law for them would emboldened them, not that they are not already, and what group has carried out mass murder here in the uk.

Give it a rest Corby.

I asked 'why should members of one religion alone be protected?', but the real question is why are they protected?  The answer to that is that faced with opposition or criticism  they react violently.   That is what we are capitulating to.

NAOMI, "Why should the members of one religion alone be protected?" Who says only one religion is protected?

The relevant legislation does not specify a particular religion, does it?
