Anybody remember this:

Well the little darling (“The boy, who has ADHD, was described as a "lovely affectionate little boy" by his single mother…) has now been sentenced to the inevitable “referral order”.

Meantime his mother has been ordered to pay £1,200 in compensation (£200 more than the cost of her sojourn in Ibiza) and received a six month “parenting order”:

The District Judge told him that had he been an adult he could have been sent to prison for between four and five years. This is quite true as some adults were indeed jailed for around that length of time for similar behaviour.

I have always been astounded (in fact “appalled” is more accurate) at the leniency displayed towards young people who appear in court. This illustrates my disgust perfectly. Any thoughts?

With a mother like her, he never stood a chance to grow up and be a useful member of society.

The fact that she has no idea of how wrong her actions were is shocking.

ADHD my April, nothing that a good Daisy up the jacksie wouldn't cure. Same for the mum too!

I'll send the kid around - hur  hur hur

yeah - imprisoning kids is - -  ending their lives. they come out unruly, without skills, without education, and not liking our society an  awful lot

anything is better - recidivist rare stil 60%, is the same as when I was writiing essays about this 1970 - and I say shows prison doesnt work

Perhaps  there should be a prison where parents like her can be sent with their feral child - a sort of 'Family Jail' for a 'Family Offence'?

^^^ Grrrrrrr..... Might make families more pro-active in disciplining their children if they knew that they would 'go down' for a few months too.

So he gets a minor inconvenience. Well unsurprised as he was apparently not under parent/guardian control. It's there the law ought to be coming down harder. A parenting course may be a bit late now, that should have happened 12 years prior.

O_G What do you think to my suggestion?  A secure unit for parent(s) and child.  Parent(s) woud be deprived of normal 'going shopping, the pub etc.'  Might concentrate minds?

Where is his father?

Worth considering jour. I guess it depends on circumstances as to why everything broke down.

The mother had to pay out £1200 compensation for her sons crimes?Makes me wonder how much compensation the parents of the boy who killed three young girls in Southport will pay out to those affected by his crimes?

You really think parents can be compensated for the murder of their children?

In any case, they will be financially compensated by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority via the taxpayer.

So why cant the victims of this young boy not be paid by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority(via the taxpayer),instead of his mother?

It might be more of a case of 'who is the father'.

Inevitable, the child was bound to have ADHD, or one of the other fashionable mental disorders.

Bring back the birch.

This is hardly surprising and is part of the 2 tier justice we see in this country.

Yes, but they were also political prisoners, if they did the same for another cause they would still be waiting trial which would probably end like this one.

i don't think sending a 12 year old to prison would result in anything good newjudge... the likelihood of abuse or rape is very high and it would likely result in a much worse 18 year old.

i think the sentencing makes sense.

Fat lot of good that will do.  Are there no young offenders institutions for people of his age?  Where were the boys who killed little James Bulger kept?

according to wikipedia they were detained at Barton Moss Secure Childrens' Home and Red Bank Secure Unit

i daresay this kid's crime was not anything like as serious as what thompson and venables did though

Red Bank closed in 2015 (public sector cuts once again) and barton moss is still there.

Thank you, untitled.  A custodial sentence would probably have been far more effective.  Sad really.  With mothers like his, kids don't really stand much of a chance in life.
