I remember discussing the road rage murder of Stephen Cameron with somebody recently, when they stated that what is frequently undisclosed is that Cameron had a less than saintly background himself.

Can anyone elaborate on this?

(No, I'm not for a second condoning Kenneth Noye or any other murderer. I merely hold an objectove interest in the case.)

Not sure about the main q

the difficulty K Noye had in defence - pre-emptive attack because he apprehended serious bodily harm himself, was that this was the second time he had used it.

In fact I am surprised that Cameron's past did not come out at trial as this might have strengthened the defence....

Kenneth Noyes participation in the brinks mat gold bullion robbery and his murder of a police officer and his lifelong criminal past and his murder of Stephen Cameron doesn't leave me in any doubt that he should spend the rest of his life in jail.

If juries weren't so gullible Stephen Cameron wouldn't be dead.
I don't know any details of what Stephen Cameron allegedly did (or not) but there would have been proper legal reasons to make sure that it would not be mentioned at the trial, in order not to prejudice the jury. The judge would have made rulings that the barristers could not mention it, and the press could not report it (until after the trial). It is unlikely that it (whatever it is) was simply unknown or undiscovered. Meanwhile I had no idea about Cameron's "background" and I am now curious to know as well! (I couldn't find any details by googling).
we all have less than saintly backgrounds, possibly excepting Saint Bernardo. This doesn't and shouldn't leave us open to being murdered. Relevant background information can be introduced at trials; irrelevant stuff can't.
Andy, interesting question. The background I think your referring to concerns a couple of the issues that occurred prior to the fatal attack. The first being that it was Stephen Camerons girlfriend (Danielle Cable) who was at the wheel of the car that cut-up Noye, beginning the chain of events, and secondly it has been alleged that it was Cameron who initiated the fight, giving Noye quite a beating and kicking him to the ground before being fatally stabbed by Noye. If the defendant had been anyone other than Kenneth Noye, he might have had some reasonable grounds for a plea of self-defence. However, on this occasion thanks to Noyes previous history of violence, robbery and murder (and thanks to some incredibly brave witnesses, one of whom was also later murdered) justice was done.

me again; Oh God if I were getting beaten up, as mentioned above, and drew a knife and stabbed the fella, I am not sure if I would place any strong hope in a plea of self defence......

I know Stephen Cameron's back ground and no he wasn't a complete saint, but like previously commented who is?

He was a fun loving guy who was devoted to his family, he showed a lot of love and was popular with people who met him. He was a generous and caring person.

It didn't happen exactly as was commented here. leviathan 1 implying he was a thug, squaring up to Noye and not protecting his fiancee. You are placing all the blame on Stephen.

So you think that someone deserves to die for sticking up for their loved ones? "Cameron played with fire-he got burnt." I feel sorry for anyone that knows you.
mr Noye should be allowed to walk free. He has served his time. The original incident was extremely debateable.
I'm Called Stephen Cameron And I Find It Very Disturbing To Hear People Talking About The Road Rage Murder Of A Stephen Cameron... Pointless Reply But I Posted It Anyway...
Stephen Cameron was a small time drug dealer who did a job for Noye and was paid with cannabis that was not top of the range gear and no way near the price that should of been rewarded for the job done. Word got to Noye that Cameron (who was a very good kickboxer )was after him. When Noye spotted Cameron on that fateful day he did what needed to be done.
Thought it was obvious. Stephen Cameron was dabbling in buying drugs, and just must have gone out of his league, and choose the wrong man with Noye.

Swanley is a little villain land, and quite a lot of faces live round there, just to prove it, visit one of the wine bar/restaurants round there on a saturday night, and just look at the gangsters and molls, all wearing gold bling, paroxide hair, boob jobs, and gold painted toenails, drinking moyet [sic] champers and trying to look legal.

My idea is that Stephen Cameron tried to buy drugs, and thought he was a big man so went a bit over in the value stakes, and had an idea of noye paying the full amount, relying on his physical size to get away with it. Noye had other ideas, and there was a viscous fight, ending in a spoilt sunday morning drive.

No proof of course, but that's what I think.

i distincly remember reading on wikipedia that cameron was a small time drug dealer and that at the time of the trial it suited neither the defence or the prosecution to mention this. Aparently this arrangment is quite common in trials. i note now that the wikipedia page about the noye /cameron incident does not make reference to cameron's alleged criminal side
Stephen Cameron was 21 and Danielle Cable was 17. It was stated in the documentary that they were engaged and had been in a long term relationship. How old was she when they started an adult relationship? They also lived and shared a bed at Stephen’s parents’ house. Of course I’m not condoning a murder, but it does sound like Stephen and his family were a bit dodgy.
