It’s going to be quite some time reaching their targets I reckon.

You should see Eurosport DE (Germany); one of the ads during the Tour de France showed a fat black guy on a trainer-bike, despite the fact that there are no black cyclists involved (there was one last year but he didn't make the cut) and there never seemed to any among the many thousands of spectators lining the route.
The image for the swimming coverage is of 2 pairs of hands side by side on the pool's edge awaiting the starters order, yes, you've got it, - one pair white & one pair black (50%) yet I haven't ever seen one black swimmer in the events.
So it goes, on & on.

I suspect this is because brands want to be seen as modern and embracing of diversity, so they'll go out of their way to show this by hiring as many diverse models and actors as possible.
This is a 180° change from the media when I was growing up. Back then it was actually novel to see a black face in an advert - now it's novel to see all white adverts. My assumption is that brands want to appeal to a younger demographic who reject older expectations.
It can be quite surprising though - the Lloyds "For Your Next Step" advert comes to mind. I found it shocking that a big brand would go there, but my 21 year old nephew just shrugged!
