Yesterday I spotted a little bee wandering slowly on my patio in the hot sunshine. He didn’t look happy so I put him in the shade on a shallow dish with some water in it. He didn’t move. Dead I thought sadly. But no. He eventually mustered up the energy to have a drink and before long went merrily on his way.
Sip, my nephew was stung by a wasp inside his mouth , ended up in hospital to get treatment, it had stung him inside his bottom lip , twice on his tongue
Yesterday my friend Juju once again rescued a baby lizard from the clutches of the neighbourhood cat. After sitting motionless for a few minutes the lizard leaped our of her hand and scampered off. That made her day.
Our visiting Mother Roe deer cleaning her fawn in our front garden after they had finished eating more of my surviving plants and drinking out of our little pond. A delight to watch.
Large female dragonfly laying eggs in my pond for over an hour. I watched her for an hour but it was too hot so had to go in.
Seems a very long time. Couldn't find anything about how long they usually lay on web.
Slight detour - I know there are a lot of flowers in bloom at the moment but a little sugar disolved in some water is very good at reviving tired bees.
Watching bees busying themselves with my wife's hanging basket, which she always takes a lot of trouble to prepare. I believe that the greatest compliment that a gardener can have is when bees come to his flowers.
Roopowder, I put a little bit of sugar in the water because coincidentally I’d come across an article about it only a few days ago. It definitely works! :o)
I was chatting to my neighbour outside his house last week and saw loads of big bumble bees hovering around his lavender bush. Love seeing bumble bees.
Also, I've got a couple of small shallow pie dishes in the garden which I've been filling up with water and some bird and squirrel feed. Separated of course.
