Yes Harmans not squeaky clean but I think she would be fair. And I am in agreement with TTT. Forget this nonsense and Beergate and get on with running the country, for starters sort out the economy, dump costly green policies and stop illegal migrants.

Get a senior respected Tory to do it - I suggest Theresa May.
//I suggest Theresa May.//

Wouldn't she pass it on the Brussels? :))
May would be fair but would probably have to decline in the same manner as Bryant.

Nothing wrong with Harman, currently longest serving MP and voted unanimously by all, the only one gnashing their teeth over it is the OP.
4 Tories out of 7 on the panel is more than generous I believe.
There are 4 Conservative MPs on the Privileges Committee. I suspect none of them want to lead this enquiry because it is a poisoned chalice.
They all know he is guilty, and they all know their report will irk their leader and his supporters in Government. Better to have a Labour MP deliver the bad news rather than make themselves deeply unpopular.

foo yeah! TTT move on!
ter daaah !

No one readers, not even TTT !!!! ( ter daah again) noticed that Sue Gray - the last one - was NOT independent because she was basically employed by Boris

Only one article ( Times) : Gray Report, shaded

and erm they cant have a Tory in charge
( TTT as ever - why not?), as any Tory is dependent on Boris

so what to do ? Harman isnt exactly an axe-lady,
and as solicitor general didnt seem to know the law
( https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1457591/Harman-and-her-sister-in-case-papers-blunder.html)

so is perfect for the job

( TTT - for it is he - foo ! dang-dang - righto! )
I just thought I wd pencil in his cont
none of them want to lead this enquiry because it is a poisoned chalice.
too near Boris and the font of sir-ships and nominator for the House of Lords

the only one gnashing their teeth over it is the OP. who hem hem doesnt have a vote

// sort out the economy, dump costly green policies and stop illegal migrants. //

It must have become apparent to you by now, that they can’t, or won’t.
Get on with running the country for sure but not with Bojo the Clown. I can't understand why any Tories want him to stay. He's a nailed on vote loser for them.
Ms Harman has two great advantages, she sets the teeth on edge and she has the patience to sit through any amount of lying BS that might come her way until the truth is arrived at, essential when dealing with Johnson.
Lol Spicey, what’s that noise?

It’s the sound of you scraping the barrel!
Funny how none of the Johnson fanboys/girls don’t want to mention the 4 Tory MP’s on the panel?
Harman is just the figurehead, she’s not Judge, jury and executioner.
Since it all depends on subjective opinion regarding what counted as a barred activity and what was still ok, this is clearly a waste of resource. It's just continued mud slinging in the hope of changing the present government for a less capable one.
OG, absolutely right. The whole thing is an utter nonsense.
Funny how some find lying to Parliament so trivial a matter.
I mean, where would anybody get the notion that Johnson is a liar?
Question Author
who has lied to parliament?
That is what the Privileges Committee to decide.
If he is as clean as you appear to think he is, he has got nothing to worry about.

Apparently Tory rebels are planning on taking over the 1922 Committee with a view to changing the VONC rules, yet another thing for the fanboys to fret about.
ToraToraTora
//who has lied to parliament?//

That’s why the committee has been convened.
Smoke, fire and all that.
As Johnson continually stressed throughout Partygate, let’s wait for the report.
Hopefully he won’t find knobbling this one so easy.
Fatticusinch, //As Johnson continually stressed throughout Partygate, let’s wait for the report. //

But you're not, are you.
